Privacy Policy

Effective date: Wave 1 public release.

Who we are

Bishop is a local AI automation product. Bishop runs entirely on your computer. We are committed to keeping your data on your device.

What stays on your device — never leaves your machine

Window focus and app usage, ambient screenshots processed locally for OCR, clipboard content when monitoring is enabled, voice input processed locally via Whisper, task history stored in a local tamper-evident audit database, entity memory stored locally in a graph database, and integration data from Slack, Discord, Teams, Google Calendar, or Notion when you connect them.

What is transmitted to third-party AI providers

Task content is sent to AI model providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or others depending on your configuration) to generate plans and responses. Subject to those providers' privacy policies. Bishop uses the API — your data is not used to train models under standard API terms. If you use the free tier, tasks are routed through Bishop's API proxy transiently and are not logged or stored on our servers. Voice input may be transmitted to OpenAI Whisper API if local transcription is not configured.

What we never do

We never sell your data. We never store your task content, screenshots, or memory on our servers. We never use your data to train AI models. We never access your device without a task you explicitly initiated.

Local storage

All Bishop data is stored at ~/.bishop/ on your device. You can delete this directory at any time to remove all Bishop data. Bishop provides a Memory right-to-forget feature — you can delete any entity or observation from Bishop's memory through the dashboard.

Intended use

Bishop is intended for use on computers you own or have explicit permission to monitor. Bishop is not intended for use by anyone under 13.

Security

Bishop uses kernel-level sandboxing (Landlock LSM and seccomp-BPF) to restrict what it can access on your system. Secrets are stored using AES-256-GCM encryption.

Changes

We will notify you of material changes to this policy through the Bishop dashboard.
